About us

The SPHC is ideally situated in the heart of Scotland, in close approximity of Scotland's master pieces of engineering: The Forth Rail and the Forth Road Bridges.  While taking pride in being a Scottish enterprise, our team consists out of an unusual mix of international experts. We work closely together with the German Passivhaus Institute and can tap into many years of intensive research, which was carried out in various European countries.

The Scottish Passive House Centre has been very influential in the implementation and development of the Passive House standard in the U.K. so far. We have been responsible for the certification of the first affordable Passive Housing scheme in Scotland (Tygh-Na-Cladach, Dunoon) and the first certified private Passive House in England (Underhill House Warwickshire) as well as being involved with a number of other projects that are currently under construction or awaiting certification.

We have consulted with a number of companies interested in making their products “passive” such as timber frame manufacturers and window manufacturers. We are helping local housing associations and other organisations to aid in the construction of their Passive House pilot schemes to test the standard before they use this on a larger scale, all of which are going very well.
