Passive House or Passivhaus – a design methodology and voluntary performance standard for optimised energy use in buildings. It results in buildings that require little or no energy use for heating or cooling, have excellent internal thermal comfort and low primary energy use. See how you can profit from many years of experience in Passive House building technology.
The full day seminar will show case the present Passive House buildings in Scotland and the UK, first monitored results and will explain details of the building methodology, which will be the backbone of the strategy to implement the toughened building regulations of 2016.
The challenge for achieving highly energy efficient building is to design to the following criteria:
- a super insulated,
- thermal bridge free and
- air tight thermal envelope,
- while maintaining a good indoor air quality.
Ross Barrat from HLM Architects will give a presentation on the design of the 3 Passive Houses for Scotland's Housing Fair 2010. The live project will show the detailing of the design, the construction process, products and problems that were encountered. More about the project.
