The SPHC supports and hosts several events in the UK related to energy efficient design of buildings:
Scotland's Housing Expo has now announced preliminary details of the programme. The site at Milton of Leys, near Inverness, will be open to the public from 1st - 31st August, showcasing 52 competition-winning sustainable homes.
Daily tickets are priced £6 (kids go free) and multi-visit tickets cost £10.
During August there will be a range of activities, many with an eco-friendly and sustainable living theme, in and around the homes. The month-long event also aims to educate visitors about the ethos of the Expo and the concepts and building methods for each property. The seminars will be run in association with various organisations including RIAS and IAA and we will circulate information as soon as details are confirmed.
The Expo is now distributing ebulletins featuring technical case studies. To sign up visit the Expo website
14:30 Ross Barrett: The role of 'Passive House' design in delivering a zero carbon economy
Passive House (or Passivhaus) – a design methodology and voluntary performance standard for optimised energy use in buildings. It results in buildings that require little or no energy use for heating or cooling, have excellent internal thermal comfort and low primary energy use. See how you can profit from many years of experience in Passive House building technology.
The course and exam in English will be delivered in Glasgow by the University of Strathclyde in co-operation with the SPHC, supported by Passive House experts from across the EU. The course provides advanced training for architects and designers already experienced in
energy optimised construction and renovation. On passing the exam individuals are registered by the Passive House Institute and can use associated materials to market their services.
